Wish Upon a Blackstar: Release Details
Today is one of those days. Ya know, the ones where you feel like you worked all day but you don't actually know if you accomplished anything? Oh right, that's every day. I can tell you one thing I DID get accomplished: I successfully exported 60 remix stems from "So Long Sentiment" (The only finished song from "Wish Upon a Blackstar" to date.) Why would I prepare remix stems so soon? There are a few reasons, but the most pressing is so I could get them to Toksin so he can get working on a remix. If you haven't heard his stuff, then you need to. He'll be doing the first Official remix for "Remixed Upon a Blackstar."
"Wait, what?!?!"
Oh, right - I haven't told you about that yet. Forget I mentioned it - go check out Toksin.

I've been promising for awhile to post details regarding the release of "Wish Upon a Blackstar." I only announced the title of the album last month. I finally decided how I'm going to release the album right around the time I announced the name of album to you, and have just been waiting for some spare time that never came to actually type it all out. Well, today is the day. I don't really have spare time, so I decided to bump some Burial and type for awhile - Sesame Street reruns can wait.
I fully embrace the idea of releasing one song at a time. Waiting years for a full album is cool and all, but times have changed. I can wrap a track in my studio and have it blaring out of your speakers literally the next day if so desired. I had some specific reasons i was planning on releasing WUaB as a full body of work, but I abandoned that a long time ago when i embraced just how much work I've created for myself with this album. I just don't totally feel right about releasing 1 song at a time for this album but I have no intentions of waiting til I'm done with the whole thing either. So, I'm releasing the album in Chapters.
Here's how I'm planning on it going down: I will release 5 chapters for this album. 2 songs per chapter x 5 chapters = 10 songs. What's got me more into this idea is I'm bringing Sam Hayles from Dose Productions on board for the album art. (He gave us the artwork for "Soundtrack for the Voices in My Head Vol 01" and FiXT is manufacturing original clothing designs from Dose Prod)
Sam will be creating an original piece of art for each chapter. The fifth and final chapter will be reserved for the CD, so both the artwork and the 2 remaining songs will be released for the first time on the physical CD. I can say more, but I know I'll just get myself in trouble, so I'll pretend I flapped my gums enough for right now. I'll bring you more details as they unfold though - promise.
For now here are the tracks for Chapter 1 of "Wish Upon a Blackstar"
So Long Sentiment
Louder Than Words
I'm all typed out and this Burial album is almost over so I'm calling it a night. I came up with an idea based around all of your comments and suggestions to name my "Q&A" Klogs. We just need to do a little more sifting and I'll make an announcement here later this week regarding a winner etc.
Here I am: Rock me like a hurricane

A long, but very informational Klog. I like the idea of putting the tracks out in chapters, it's a nice change of pace. Anyhow, keep up the good work with your music and keep us all updated.
digital release only¿? O_o
I kinda like this idea. I'm a bit disappointed there are only 10 songs. But it's a very innovative and original idea. Kudos.
AWESOME. :D

I second rav3.nous.korvus's sentiment. knowing the new album is going to be digital-only is depressing. I was REALLY looking forward to being able to get it on an analog compact disc. :-(
I really like the idea of releasing the CD in chapters. That way we can get it faster and I don't have to wait another year!!! Thanks so much Klayton. XOXOX
I guess no one actually read the post Klayton wrote...
"The fifth and final chapter will be reserved for the CD,"
My interpretation is Klayton will release the album digitally in chapters and the 5th and final chapter will be coupled with an actual "hard pressed analog" whatever you wanna call is Compact DISC... or CD if you will
Yeah! I love your idea, but for a song like "Tragedy" that is already in stores and in our mp3s? Will be in the 5th chapter?
thank you ducky
was fixting to say that
"both the artwork and the 2 remaining songs will be released for the first time on the physical CD" PHYSICAL CD
only the first four 4 chapters are digital DL
@ MindlessMind
pending you read this again
he started with around 30+ so
it only 10 for now plus the plans of a new beta cessions and Soundtrack.and how know what else he be up to which is a lotttttttttt.
that why this album be taking so long.demo around 30 songs to knock it down to your best 10 when your as good aa him is i can only imagine HARD As Fa(bleep).so don be so bumed about it only beginning 10 songs if he add more it take longer.this for my perspective
try to land on claman ground.cause if i remembered right which doesn happen offten.
30+ songs of basicly 3 more albums so hes really doing 3+ albums in this five to six year period so far.that's impressive to me.
so if the whole 10 (insert sad face)has you bumed think of it that why.so by 2011 we could have 3 new cell (albums) to dwell into.do not hold klayton to that.it just what my minds was screaming at my fingers to type.
i mean no matter how creative i liked to think i am that just way at my league.
and most if not all bands no matter how high their set their self on a pedestal.
most can only do one album ever four years.
nough said.

any if it is that 11 and if he includes tradgey that's 12.
but he just said 10 so i taking it as no.
anyway
so please no more whining about it only begin 10 songs.
if anyones read this that is allwell
have a nice day-night whatever you timezone is.
one of these days I going to try and type a decent comment right now it's around five in the morning.yeah i'm kinda an insomniac thinkning about try stalis's cure but then i wouldn't get to hear the new CD less klay belives in ghost.so tired eyes white back ground plus mayvix up all night equals
failed at typing like an adult.
Well, I was actually the guy who wants to have a physical album with 10 tracks on it and I had the patients to wait but that was until i´ve heard the first piece of So Long Sentiment... Dude I want to have that song so bad! :D:D so you have my fullest agree with these chapters.
Have nice days
cheers
"Hurricane" huh?
Can't wait to see it :D
Hi. To clarify:
There WILL be a physical CD. I'm just not making you wait a year to hear any music. I'll release it along the way and then the CD will be released with final artwork and all 10 tracks.
"Tragedy" will NOT be on the disc (Thank You Baby Jesus!)
I will post a track listing of all 10 songs at some point in the next few weeks, so hang tight. It is true that i have 40-50 songs that I've written for this CD - only 10 made it. So as time allows, I plan on finishing 1 song at a time towards "The Beta Cessions II" and releasing them, possibly one at a time, with a physical CD when I have finished enough tracks to justify it.
I hope this clarifies some things. God knows, I'm confused enough - I have to try not to confuse the people around me too. That would be a mess.
I'm still here, getting rocked like a hurricane.
[Klayton]

Will you let us be "rocked like a hurricane" with any new music sometime soon? :D
I like the idea of partial releases because we get to listen to the tunes that much sooner.
Oh what a surprise!
I always thought that Tragedy will be on WUaB.
Thank you for your "Klayrification" ;)
Damian.
Cool!
Hi! Tragedy will not be on the CD, okay! But why "thank you baby Jesus"? You love this song?!?! Anyway, it's good to have news from you.
Hugs from France!!
now that i can see stright.
like klay said "Klayrificating"
,thiers kinda a limt to when that becomes annoying to me at least,
In the comments their were 40-50 songs towards this ablum and the conformation of a beta 2.
so that also shows how hard hes been working as well as helping other fixt artise i'm sure he doing the mix on blue stail's ultraNUMB.
or it wouldn't surprise me if he is,
but that a different blog and subject all together.
i don't know why i said anything about a soundtrack as far as i know he made no mention of it.
outside of the SVH 01 CD and plans to do more
I'm sure their be a SVH 02 just not soon.aswell as beta 02.right now his main focus
is finshing this CD WUABS hahahaha WU-ABS.
snice it's been voices in his head now for years.atleast five, that would drive me insane.aswell as the five plus hours of lost bass printing.
i've had ideas in my head for years and as been made plainly advent by my current lvl of typing you can see why it hasn't gone far.that and my lack of every settling on any.imagine him
thats why I like him as a person, creator, artise, human & his music and how he creates it.for me it like seening the future of what i'll probably go through.
just not near his lvl, cause it his.
if i were to start now,i could only compare myself 2 him i would never surpass him.I wouldn't want to and it just not possible.
i'd never know till i'm thrown into that kinda Atmosphere.so for now this is all spectral of a future i hope to see.plus at the risk
of putting my foot in my mouth i think should that day ever come.
i would want to work at fixt for fixt whatever.
but i'd need to hit more books, collage, trade schools.ect first.
the funny thing is you need a job to pay for that,so you can get a job.
isn't life funny that way.you buy a wallet to hold money and buy pants to hold the wallet among other things.
you try and get a job to pay fo school so you can get other jobs ect.
"life" in my opinion
now that a joke anyone can laugh at.
That was a long read but a great one. I was thinking I could wait for the whole album to be done but I just can't so I look forward to getting 8 of the songs before the actual CD with the two final tracks.
Sam's going to busy then!
Keep up the good work Klay!
The whole chapter idea sounds cool. I seriously can't wait for Wish Upon a Blackstar! I know it's gonna be sweeeeeet!! I also can't wait to see who ya chose for the whole "name my blog" thing. Dang it!! I just missed an episode of Sesame Street! Next time, I'll TiVo it. Thanks for reminding me. LOL!! Anyway, keep on rockin', Klayton! Peace! xoxo
I would have to agree with ducky. It is a great idea. thanks klayton.
I'm all for the idea, since you'll be releasing the full CD afterwards. Finally we'll be able to listen to the new album! :D
@mayvix
I agree, starting with 30 songs and knocking it down to 10 is pretty hard. But with the self titled being 15 songs long (plus 3 cells), 10 seems a little low. And with the extra time he is given to work on the album, by releasing it in chapters, he could pull off one or two more tracks.
And if he can pull off another Beta Cessions that actually has more than a few new songs (I think he mentioned that somewhere, a Beta Cessions as basically a B-sides album) I will be satisfied.
10 songs just seems a little short for what I'm used to from Klayton. But lets just wait and see. Maybe the track listing isn't finished yet. (I'm currently working on my own album, and I know how quick I change my mind in regards to track lists.)
Oh come on people! Klayton is working his a*s off to get WUaB done and dusted, to give us something amazing with which to bless our ears, and you're moaning about it being 10 songs?! Give the guy (sorry, meant to say god) a break! I personally think that 10 songs is more than enough, seeing as I'm starting to wear out my self titled CD.
Oh and whoever said about working for fixt? I share your dream my friend, I share your dream.
Now stop bothering Klayton and let him rock out WUaB!
Oh and one last thing, will the songs in each chapter be related to each other? I think having the chapters all mean a little something which inadvertantly come together to make a massive meaning would be cool!
I think I used 'inadvertantly' out of context there...
Peace out, love to Klayton!
I'd rock you like a hurricane.
...I really am a bit of a pervert.
Good to hear news about the album! Although, I am perplexed as to why Tragedy won't be on there. It's a brilliant cover!
I look forward to hearing anything you've got for us.
In the meantime, I will carry on sexually harrassing you and Trent Reznor on Twitter.
<3
Claire@Full Metal Gaming
Outstanding!! :)
Word, sir. Do people still say word? Oh well.
I can't wait for the new album, man. And to hear that we will be able to listen to it before it's out... very cool.
I first heard your work a couple years ago when I was going through some bad stuff. Back then I was smoking a lot of pot, and a friend's girlfriend made me a copy of "Celldweller." I listened to it and was like "Holy shit, this is some of the most badass music I have ever heard. And the drug just made it better. (Not that I am saying drug use is good or bad, just a fact of the situation.) *looks around*
Like... five people just lit up while reading this. haha
So because of that, all of the songs were like burned into my memory, and it became one of my all time favorite albums.
It helped me along through the crap, and for that I thank you.
Really looking forward to Wish Upon a Blackstar.
Rock on
T.S
After waiting so long for a nice new album to play in my car and enjoy on these superb summer nights with friends (also, now disappointed, fans) I am thoroughly deflated that yet again Klayton has chose to put things out in dribs and drabs with some half baked, pretentious idea about little chapters with artwork - how about something more substantial and tactile, mate? This is getting ridiculous. Loved the first album, it's in my top 20 faves of all time, and I was seriously looking forward to a glimmering new album to sit next to it, not only in my faves list but in my CD collection too. Very disappointing indeed :(
